🐴 Horse Pulling: A Display of Strength, Skill & Tradition
Horse pulling is a competitive event that showcases the remarkable power and teamwork of draft horses—massive breeds like Belgians and Percherons team up and pull a stone boat loaded with weight over a short distance—typically 15 feet. The team that pulls the heaviest weight the farthest is crowned the winner.
🛠️ How It Works
The Setup: A sled is loaded with concrete blocks or other heavy material.
The Horses: Draft horses are paired and harnessed for maximum balance and coordination.
The Pull: Weight increases after each round; teams advance by successfully pulling heavier loads.
General Rules and Regulations of the Russell Agricultural Society apply: 15(H) Entry passes for one handler, one assistant per team.
